CSS3 TRANSFORMS AND TRANSITIONS

2-D TRANSFORM
2D transforms are used to perform different effects on the coordinate system of an element with respect to the 2 axis, x and y. These functionalities help us to change the shape, size, position and orientation of an element.

The 2-dimensional coordinate system is given as:

Syntax:
transform: name_of_property(value);
To make transform work in all the browsers, we need to add the cross-browser libraries to it. For that, we write them as:
-webkit- transform: name_of_property(value); for chrome and safari

-o- transform: name_of_property(value); for opera
-moz- transform: name_of_property(value); for mozilla firefox
-ms- transform: name_of_property(value); for internet explorer

  1. Translate- This property is used to move the position of the element with respect to its current position. A positive value shifts the element in the positive direction of the axes and a negative value shifts the element in the negative direction of the axes.
Writing "transform: translate(x-value, y-value)" shifts the element in the x direction by the x-value amount and in the y direction by the y-value amount. Also, we can use the translate property to shift the element in a single direction also. For that, we use             
             transform: translateX(value); or transform: translateY(value);

2.    Scale- This property is used to change the size of the element with respect to its current size. A positive value increases the size and a negative value decreases the size.
Writing "transform: scale(x-value, y-value)" changes the width of the element by x-value and the height of the element by y-value. Also, we can use the scale property to change the size of the element with respect to only a single coordinate.
For that, we use
            transform: scaleX(value); or transform: scaleY(value);

3.  Rotate- This property is used to change the orientation of the element with respect to its orientation. A positive value rotates the element in a clockwise direction and a negative value rotates the element in the anti-clockwise direction.
Writing "transform: rotate (value deg)"rotates the element with the value degree.

4. Skew- This property is used to turn the element's edges with respect to its current position.
Writing "transform: skew(x-value, y-value)" turns the element by x-value in the x direction and by y-value in the y direction. Also, we can use the skew property to turn the element with respect to only a single coordinate.

For that, we use
transform: skewX(value); or transform: skewY(value);
5.    Matrix- This property is used to apply all the transforms in a single property. It consists of 6 values which cover all the transforms.
Writing "transform: matrix (6 values)" applies all the transforms together according to the 6 values provided.

3-D TRANSFORM
3D transforms are similar to 2D transforms, only the difference lies in the coordinates. 2D transform works on a 2 dimensional coordinate system and 3D transforms work on a 3 dimensional coordinates, with an extra z-coordinate.
The 3-dimensional coordinate system is given as:
Syntax:
transform: name_of_property3d(value);
To make transform work in all the browsers, we need to add the cross-browser libraries to it. For that, we write them as:
-webkit- transform: name_of_property3d(value); for chrome and safari

-o- transform: name_of_property3d(value); for opera
-moz- transform: name_of_property3d(value); for mozilla firefox
-ms- transform: name_of_property3d(value); for internet explorer

Writing "transform: scale3d(x-value, y-value, z-value)" changes the width of the element by x-value, the height of the element by y-value and depth of the element by the z-value.
For single z-direction, we use
            transform: scaleZ(value);
3.    Matrix- This property is used to apply all the transforms in a single property. It consists of 16 values (4X4 matrix) which cover all the transforms.
Writing "transform: matrix3d (16 values)" applies all the transforms together according to the 16 values provided.
4.    Perspective- This property specifies a projection matrix which will scale the points in the x and y coordinates based on the value of the z coordinate. This is used to provide a realistic appearance to the element. At z=0, the size of the element remains unchanged. A positive value of z indicates moving away from the origin and a negative value of z represents moving towards the origin. This is used as:
            transform: perspective(z-value);

TRANSITION
Transitions are used to provide smooth effects in the different states of transforms.
Syntax:
transition: transition_property transition_duration transition_delay transition_timing_function;

Transition property is the name of the transform property on which the transition is to be applied.
Transition_duration is the time interval during which the change of state should take place.
Transition_delay is the time interval for which the transition waits before the process starts.
Transition_timing_function is used to describe the speed of the transition.
To make transition work in all the browsers, we need to add the cross-browser libraries to it. For that, we write them as:
For browsers like Chrome, and Safari
-webkit- transition: transition_property transition_duration transition_delay transition_timing_function;
For Mozilla Firefox
-moz- transition: transition_property transition_duration transition_delay transition_timing_function;

For browser Opera
-o- transition: transition_property transition_duration transition_delay transition_timing_function;
For Internet Explorer
-ms- transition: transition_property transition_duration transition_delay transition_timing_function;

Tips to become a good Photographer.
With the speedy advancement in digital technology the field of Photography is consistently evolving. One cannot polish his or her skills in photography simply by getting a classy camera or possessing the most recent tools and equipments. To be a good photographer, one ought to keep himself upgraded with all recent technological changes occurring within the field of photography.
In essence, photography is a form of art and can be learn only through rigorous practice. In applied professions like photography, technique is much more important than equipment used. Therefore to be a successful photographer, one should associate his or her imagination with proficiency required to master the continues technological changes taking place within the industry.
Here are ten universal tips for the photography enthusiast which can assist them in capturing good photographs or which one should bear in mind before clicking the photographs.

  • Knowing your gear: It’s imperative for photographers specially beginners to have hands full information of ins and outs of camera basics and gear to be used. One will go through various books, magazines, and online tutorials for new updates on camera settings n tricks. Books on photography by Scott Kelby are quite popular amongst the beginners. 
  • Consciously compose your shots: Always frame the image in your mind before framing it on the camera. Try to keep the unnecessary mess (material) out of the frame of the image so as to bring good and less cluttered photos.
  • Always set your camera at the highest resolution possible. High resolution allows you to take high quality pictures as against the low-resolution images which are harder to modify later-on.  Also cropping of high resolution pictures can be done with much more ease and convenience. 
  • To take good photographs, one should stand close to the subject matter of the image. Standing near to the subject will allow you to frame it more effectively without any distractions.
  • Getting closer while taking a portrait allows you to notice facial expressions and alternative fine details One should capture a specific subject from different-different angles. Photographing subject from distinctive angles will add aesthetic elements in your pictures. 
  • Shutter speeds: Shutter speed refers to the minimum time that a shutter can stay open at a given setting. Lighting quick shutter speeds are good for capturing fast paced object or shots having lots of action, whereas slow shutter speed are appropriate for landscapes without lots of movement.
  • In order to attain dramatic effect or creative feeling (black n white mode) of old camera, you can consider buying a vintage gear from the concerned shop.
  • One should avoid capturing blurred images or photos while taking a close-up or shooting from distance. Camera shake can be reduced by keeping still or using a tripod.
  • Judicious use of flash: Using flash in poor light can cause foul-looking reflections or can even make your subject washed-out. Thus one should judiciously use flash and avoid using it when you don’t have to. Flash is best used for eliminating the raccoon eye effects, filling in shadows, etc…

Job Interview Tips for Graphic and Web Designers.


Presently web and graphics are the two most challenging professions in the entire digital media industry. Advancement of web technologies, improved means of communication coupled with the growing users of internet -has made the web and graphics profession extremely demanded across the globe. Thousands of job opportunities are witnessed within past five years. This is generally because one can work as a freelancer web or graphic designer while working in other areas, sectors or fields. So if you wish to become a web or graphic designer or hunting for a job in the market here are some quick interview tips for you guys.  
I know you must have come across various article on the similar topic detailing you on how to prepare best for the graphics interviews, tips and tricks to crack the web design interview.  However through this blog, I’d like to brief you regarding some of the universal questions which will serve as road map of what you will be asked during an interview and the way to construct spectacular answers.
Here are some questions that one must prepare before going for an interview for the post of graphic or web designer:

Tell Me Something About Yourself (T.M.A.Y) 
I have found over my career that T.M.A.Y is typically the very first question which will place up by majority of interviewer in one or other way. The purpose of this question is to judge the analysis level of the candidate towards himself. One will tell his/her basic and professional qualification while answering this question. Additionally one will tell his/her area of interest towards this question.  

 Why do you want to work in the field of graphic /web designing or for the desired post?  
The question is simple, but one should give an appropriate answer so as to grab the eye of the recruiter. On will suitably answer that working for the desired post/field will be a challenging and beneficial experience form him and his career.

What do you know about the topic/post? 
While answering such type of question, one will brief the recruiter about the software proficiency and Adobe credentials.

What is your biggest strength or why should we hire you or what you can bring to our company if we appoint you?
 Such question will enable the candidates to polish their qualification to the requirement of their employer. Also where the candidate wants to see himself/herself.  In order to construct an impressive answer one should identify what you are good at in terms of knowledge, experience, skills or abilities. One will diligently say that “I have those attributes which are necessary to fill the requirement of this job”.
 
How long would you expect to work for the company, if hired? 
Never be specific while answering such questions. Instead answer in impressive approach, for example: I’d prefer to go with you guys until the time we both feel that I’m doing a good job or until the time you allow me & believe that I’m doing a good job for the company.      

No two situations are exactly same; however the above mentioned question questions will serve as a general guide to all the web or graphic aspirants whether they are applying as a fresher, intern or as an experienced professional.
