Uses of Chroma Key in After Effects

Before we go and take a look at Chroma key, we need to understand what is keying?
Keying is a composition effect that takes a part of an image or a video and makes it transparent. This part of the image or video is chosen based of color blue or green.

There are different types of keying Adobe After Effects such as

  • Color difference key
  • Inner/outer Key
  •  Linear color key
  •  Keylight or Chroma Key
In Keylight or Chroma Key in Adobe After Effects, we take a composition of two images or two videos and compose them together in a single timeline.
As now we have understood what is Keylight or Chroma Key in Adobe After Effects now let's see how to make this happen.
For example, let's make news channel compositions.

First you would need a background.
The background can be an image but it would be suitable if it is a video related to news channel appropriate.
Add an anchor
Now we would need an anchor who is reading some headlines with blue or green background for this part you can download this an appropriate and suitable clip from the internet or shoot it yourself in front of a green or blue background.
You can shoot this clip otherwise standing or sitting; if sitting makes sure there is a desk you are sitting behind to give your composition a formal look. If you are downloading the clip from the internet make sure the anchor and the news, he or she is reading, complements the background. If the size of the anchor is cropped or zoomed-in in the clip make sure you resize it to the proper proportions.

Add a Table
To make it more realistic add an image of table in front of the anchor to hide any cropped areas. Remember to resize the table according to the proportions too otherwise it may look out of proportion and unrealistic.

Now you can start to make the news channel composition

First, we need to go to a new project to make a new composition, give any composition name as you desire then choose preset for the composition. You can choose any preset from the several presets provided in the drop-down menu or choose custom and give your own desired size.

After that choose the Pixel Aspect Ratio, you can leave it at 'square pixels' or choose any other from the drop-down menu.

Then choose the Frame rate again you can leave it at 29.97 frames per second or choose any other option from the drop-down menu.

After that, you need to resolution in which you want to work on while composing your video.

Then you need to enter the duration in which you decide how long you want the video to be. After that, we finally choose the Background color you want to work on.
Remember whatever background color you choose in the final render the background will be black. For any other background color, you need to take a solid layer in the composition and make that the background.

After clicking on OK go to File click on import and bring all the files in the project panel then drag all the files in the timeline panel.

Arrange the clips and images wherever they look appropriate. Then choose the anchor layer with a green or blue background and to Effect options from many bars.

Choose Keying then Keylight (1.2) then take the eyedropper from the Screen color option and choose the background of the clip which is blue or green.

This will make the clip or image under this layer visible.

Now readjust the layers above to make the composition look realistic.

Add an adjustment layer to the composition to colorize the video and make it presentable.

Now that we have seen how we can make a news video clip with the help of chroma key let's see where else chroma key is used.

Chroma Key is used in movies as a visual effect (VFX), in whether showcase for news channels, in music videos or in any simple images with plain green background.

Chroma key also has its pros and cons is a very simple and easy tool.

Pros - With Croma key, we can make a different composition with the same image or video by just changing the background.

Cons -But chroma key also has some of its difficulties after changing the background the edges of the foreground image have to adjusted so that it looks realistic.
Here we have seen how and where to use chroma key and compose a video, we have also seen some pros and cons of chroma key. And where it can be used.

Exploring Features and Assets of Adobe XD

Adobe XD is an application which is vector based. It works on both macOS and Windows. XD also helps in creating website wireframing and prototypes. On the other hand, it also helps in creating user interfaces for mobile and web apps.  Earlier some features in XD were very hard to use. It also helps to create UI in different Break points like:- Extra small, small, medium, large, extra-large for different platforms . it provides UI kit to make our work easy. It is very easy to use. The professionals who use this software are UX designers, UI designers, web designers, web application designers, Mobile application designers etc. In adobe XD first, we design and second we do prototyping and then we share it.
1. Design: Design includes content, image and some dummy texts. It is an important part. After deciding the topic, some ideas come in our mind and by using those ideas we make our designs. Designing is the main element because in the absence of design we can’t prototype and share anything.
2. Prototyping: This is the second stage in adobe XD. After making wireframes or design we prototypes them. Prototyping refers to the linking between different artboards or pages. it is an important part. It gives life to our design.
3. Share: Adobe XD also allows to share our designs. We can create a public link and share it with the public. On the other hand, we can share it with the privacy and password. we can also save our file on computer.

Features of Adobe XD

There are many features in Adobe XD like:-

  • plugins: Adobe XD feature plugins increase your design workflow. It Creates a deep connection with external tools and services. For example:- if you have a need to use any icon , maps and etc. , you can install and use it.
  • Repeat grid: This feature gives this software an edge.  When you need to create same design multiple times you can use repeat grid. The repeat grid saves your time, and makes your design better.
  • Prototypes and animation: After making wireframes and designs, it is the prototypes which gives life to our design. Good designs might look great on screen but prototypes generate the actual user experience. Prototypes creates a link between different artboards. Prototypes makes our work more attractive.
  • Responsive resize: Since, people now a days use web on devices of different sizes so its important to have responsive design. It has basically become need of an hour. To ease our work now Responsive Resize feature comes to use. If we want to place same content on the other artboard, we can do it easily with the help of this feature of Adobe XD. It works magically and automatically resize the content such as images and text.
  • Voice design: This is an interesting feature of Adobe XD. Users can Create designs with the voice commands. It works like a smart-assistants.
  • Symbols: we can create our own symbols and logo or icons. And we can use them whenever we need. This is our one-time investment. After doing one time we can enjoy it lifetime.

Use of Assets in Adobe XD

Assets are very useful feature in Adobe XD. We can save many component like:- color, character styles, etc. we can do our work easily without wasting time. And it also creates a balance in our design. You can even add emoticons in XD along with labels. Reordering of assets can be done. It is done in the asset panel. Assets also helps in highlighting the missing fonts and displays it on the canvas. And you can also replace them with the similar fonts. Sometime XD automatically activates. It increases user experience.
Now, What if you want to Add or Remove Assets?
Lets have a look that,

How can we add colors to the asset panel :

Firstly select an object or can even select group of objects on the artboard. After this click + sign which is given along colors in the asset panel. Now for adding color to the selected object follow the steps that are given below :
  • Fill the color using color asset panel by selecting color from it and then select Fill command
  • To give the stroke to the object, select a color in the assets panel and right-click on it and select Apply as Border.
To add character styles as assets:
To apply the style to the text, select the text on the screen and apply any text style from the Property Inspector. Select the styled text and select + icon next to the Character Styles in the Assets Panel.

Conclusion :

I am sure you must have got some idea about features and assets in Adobe XD. I am pursuing Web Master Course from ADMEC Multimedia Institute. I have written this blog as a part of my project that I was given after the successful completion of the Adobe XD course.

Important Topics to be Covered in Adobe Premiere Pro Course

Adobe Premiere Pro is a video editing software in which we cut or
edit the footage or video and can give a final look. In this software we can add different effects and transitions and many more. The latest version of this software is Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019. There are many topics to learn and do experiments during the Premiere Pro Course, most of the common are given below.

1. Importing Media

The first and important thing to do whenever we start a project is to import media like images, videos, audios etc. It will be easy for us to import everything in the beginning and we will not messed up with our work.
  • We have three methods to import media are:
  • Select file > Import from the media browser
  • Right - click the file in the media browser & select import

You can drag the file from the media browser into the project panel, or drag the file from the media browser into timeline.

2. Organizing assets into bin

Organizing things is a very good quality should be in every person. After importing our media we should create different bins for in which we can collect the same type of files together. It will work like a folder. We can also add sequence to it. Advantage of creating bin is we can add or delete the things from the bin or can delete bin completely as per our preference. We can also rename the assets. The method of creating assets is:
  • We can directly create a bin by clicking the new bin button which is placed at the bottom of the project panel.

3. Editing or trimming video

Main part ot the raw footage is to edit the video or audio which is not necessary for us. When we record audio or video we take so much break or make mistakes. sO, for this premiere pro is quite useful. Editors use this software in interviews, News channels, Youtube, films etc to cut the video or audio.

Now, the simplest method of edit the clip is select clip then place playhead where you want to apply the cut and use the shortcut command i.e CTRL + K.

4. Using markers

Next topic is related to markers. Two types of markers we can use on the starting point of the footage and the second one we can use on the ending point of the footage. Which are named as mark in and mark out respectively. Use of marker is that we can use particular area from the whole footage to use. We can apply markers by select marker > add marker or press the M key.

5. Multi-Camera editing

Now come to the next topic which is multi camera. This is the most important topic that we should know if we are working in premiere pro. In multi camera editing we can edit the shots which are shot by more than one camera. Now the question is how to use multiple cameras. So,here are all the points that you can use to do multi camera editing.
  • Create a project
  • Import footage
  • Create a multi-camera source sequence
  • Create a multi-camera target sequence
  • Enable multi-camera editing in the Program monitor
  • Enable recording of multi-camera edits
  • Edit the multi-camera sequence
  • Adjust and refine edits
  • Export the multi-camera sequence

6. Working with stills

It is not necessary to work only with footages, we can also do experiments with still images. We can create amazing slideshows in this software and can do colour grading also.

7. Adding effects and transitions

We can apply transitions in between two or more clips like fade in or fade out & many more to show a flow. In video if we apply effects it will give a different look like blur, crop, noise etc. There are a lot of plugins which we can download and use in our project.

8. Colour correction

In Adobe Premiere Pro we can do colour correction. By changing the hue, saturation, colours etc. We can do colour grading in slideshows, mashups etc.

9. Animation

In this software, we can animate titles and logos. Wedding animations are mainly created in this software. We can apply different transition & effects to the titles and give movement to it by adding keyframes.

10. Croma cutting

Croma cutting is also an important task that we can do. We can change the background of the video if it is on coloured screen. In news channels visual newsroom is created by removing the green screen.

All are very important topics that are listed above. If you genuinely wants to learn video editing in Premiere Pro then you can definitely learn these topics and keep experimenting. If you are willing to learn premiere pro in a very effective way then you can join Video Editing Institute, Rohini Delhi.

Major Differences between C, C++ and Java

Differences Between C, C++ and Java

There are 3 languages that are ruling the world of programming. They are C, C++, and Java. These languages are building blocks of many programming languages. In this blog we will discuss them in brief and will see how they differ from one another.

Introduction to C

C, developed in 1972 especially for unix operating system is a high level language. It was developed after B language which came in 1970. It is widely used language now-a-days as it is easy to learn and also can be compiled on wide range of computers. Not only this, efficient and versatile programs are build using this.

Introduction to C++

Super set of C is C++. It is also a general purpose language. It is complied but life of serious programmers. It is flexible than C, this makes it more efficient. The X-factor in C++ is the concept of class. These are the user defined type. Many C++ institutes offer advance courses in it as it is the need of very IT industry.

Introduction to Java

Developed in 1991 but was available to public in 1995. It is owned by Oracle Corporation. It is object based language. Its syntax is similar to C and C++. The latest working version of Java is 13 which came in 2019 only. There are now so many core java training institute in Delhi which can help you be pro in the field.

Now, Lets see,

How C, C++ and Java Differ from Eachother :

1. Different Paradigms
The main difference between the 3 of these lies with the different programming paradigms that they use. C is a procedural language whereas C++ and Java are Object Oriented.

2. Range of Keywords
They have different range of keywords. C has 32, C++ has 63 whereas Java has 50 defined keywords.

3. Supporting Header Files
C and C++ both support header files whereas Java does not support header files, it uses packages, where packages are imported into java platform.

4. Criteria of Inheritance
Inheritance is considered as an important aspect of programming language. There are two types of inheritance, single as well as multiple. Single inheritance is supported by C as well as Java. But C also supports Multiple Inheritance unlike Java. Whereas no such criterion is supported by C++.

5. Different Kinds of Storage Allocators
All three uses different types of storage allocators. C uses malloc and calloc function library for dynamic allocation. C++ uses new and delete function Whereas Java uses garbage collector for the same purpose.

6. Constructor and Destructor Class
Constructor is a class which initialises each and every project whereas Destructor takes part on destroying that class. Neither C nor Java supports this. whereas it is supported by C++.

7. Use of Multithread and Interfaces
When two or more parts of a programs are executed consequently at that time CPU is utilized at its maximum this is called multithreading and each part of such programs is known as thread. This feature is only supported by java and not the other two.

8. Use of different types of approach
C uses a Top-Down approach whereas Java, as well as C++, use Bottom-Up approach. These approaches are used to gather the knowledge and processing of a program.

9. Language Translators Used
C and C++ use compiler only as a language translator whereas Java needs both compliers as well as an interpreter for interpretation of language.

10. Code Execution Machine
Execution of code is done directly in C as well as C++ unlike Java where code is not executed directly and requires proper JVM i.e. Java Virtual Machine to execute the code.

Conclusion

I hope now you must have understood the main differences that distinguish the three most wanted programming languages in the field of IT industry. You can start of your journey with the basic i.e. C by joining C courses in Rohini and then after learning this can go for C++ as well Java. ADMEC Multimedia Institute is considered as the best C++ institute as well as core java institute in Delhi.

Reasons Why Animators Should Learn Autodesk MAYA

Did you know what animation word means? It derived from French and translated into English word – soul. Thus, we call animation as the process of enrollment into the lifeless characters. Several tools are there in the industry which are being used by animators to create amazing and joyful movies. One such tool is Autodesk Maya, a first choice of many professionals. To attain expertise in this application, there is a need for advanced Maya courses training from a reputed institute.

But why you should become master of this application? To know you need to read this blog till the end since right here in this write-up, we have given the top 5 reasons why animators should learn Autodesk Maya. Check them out!

But before that let’s have a brief look what Maya is all about.

Autodesk Maya is the prominent 3d animation application which has the capabilities to help you to build professional level of 3d animation. The version of the software known as Maya 1.0, was developed by Alias Wavefront and released in 1998. From 1998 till now, it has stunned the industry. Let’s see what has it done and why every animator should learn Maya.

Have a look at the following reasons

1. One of the best, and most versatile software in today's scenario.

Maya was first released back in 1998 by Alias Wavefront, and it acquired by Autodesk in early 2006. From 2006, its team have been improving the software. It is used by 3D animators all over the world. It is developed for feature film production. It is used by Sony Pictures Animation’s Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and live-action integrated films like Avengers: Infinity War.

2. Used by top feature film animation studios like Blue Sky Studios, Framestore and many more.

Most of the studios use Maya as a critical piece of their production pipeline, from the beginning steps of modelling and rigging till the last step of character animation. Framestore and Moving Picture Company collaborated with each other on two key characters for the Guardians of the Galaxy. The Marvel team also brought several studios together animation and special effects for Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos, the main villain, Pacific Rim or Transformers, Industrial Light & Magic. Movies like Star Wars and Jurassic Park are also dependent on Maya for its almost animation.

3. Used by almost all Academy Award Winning Films.

Over the last few years, this application has played a role in several countless Animated Features like Disney’s nominee Wreck It Ralph (2013) and their Oscar-winner Frozen (2014). Sony Pictures Animation too used the same software for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse(2019). Maya was also used to produce the past two decade’s worth of winners of Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards, on films like The Hobbit and Snow White and the Huntsman.

4. Learning this will make you more competitive in this industry.

A quick Google search for jobs in the animation industry will show you just how many studios look for experience in Maya, which is in the United States and internationally. Having this skill will make you stand out from the crowd when you are looking for jobs. And it isn’t just used for feature films—Maya is used to create games and TV Shows like Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire.

5. Learning a robust software like Maya will help make the transition to other proprietary software easier.

At Animation Mentor, we know that learning the right software is a major concern for students. However, when you learn such complex software like Maya, you are building the skill of learning how to use a new type of tool. In this case, you’re learning how to use 3D animation software.

Once you are able to use one software package, it’s quite easy to learn how to use another similar package.

Think of Maya as your 3D pencil—once you understand and learn the principles of animation and how to bring a character to life, the particular software package you use won’t matter as much anymore.

That way when you land your dream job at DreamWorks, you will have no problem picking up their proprietary software Premo, used on one of the 2019’s hit film i.e. How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden Worlds.

To ensure a prosperous career in 3D animation, go for ADMEC Multimedia Institute and get yourself enrolled in 3D animation courses and get trained from industry experts.
