What is Mechanical?

Mechanical is that aspect or disciple of engineering which is based on the principles of engineering, physics and material sciences. It is a tool for designing, analysis, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is one of the basic and oldest disciples of engineering.

The mechanical field requires the core concepts consisting of mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and electricity. Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided design, and product life-cycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, weapons, and others. Mechanical engineering overlaps with many other branches of engineering. It has its own various sub-disciples like production, automation, mechanics etc.
