How do you make a fire effect in After Effects?

Whenever it comes to making special effects, Adobe After Effects comes at the top of all software applications. It is one of the most popular motion graphics and compositing software applications in which you can create amazing stuff like fire effect which we are going to see this blog.

This blog will provide you the important 12 steps to create fire effects in After Effects.

Start from the initial steps.

Step 1- Take width as 1920 and height as 1080 then create a solid layer with same width and height.

Step 2- Right click, then select effect > Noise & Grain >Fractal Noise.

Step 3- Use Fractal Noise and do some setting also. Use key frame in offset turbulence for moving Fractal Noise.

Moreover, go to the effects > select distort > then choose turbulent displace and use key frame in offset (turbulence).

Furthermore, duplicate turbulent displace and change the setting to create the effect.

Step 4- Again go to effect > stylize > then choose CC Glass and do some setting like the given image.

Step 5- Create duplicate main solid layer then do some settings in effect as shown in the image given below.

Step 6- Again duplicate solid layer and change the setting of Fractal Noise.

Moreover, select both duplicate layers and then change the blending mode to Screen. Also do some little changes in both layers like given in the image below, then pre compose all layers.

Step 7- Take a solid layer, then go to effect > distort > again turbulent displace

Furthermore, use Ellipse tool to create the mask, in the mask use feather and do some changes in turbulent displace.

Set the key frame in offset for movement of turbulent displace.
Moreover, in the first layer select alpha matte and select both layers, then do pre compose.

Step 8- Select layer then go to the effect menu > effect > video copilot > VC color vibrance

Step 9- Some changes in VC color vibrance and add hue/ saturation.

Then, go to effect > distort > select mesh warp to create the shape of fire
Step 10- Select main fire layer, add Unsharp mask

Next,  change setting in Unsharp mask

Step 11- Go back to main layer, in effect > stylize > select glow

Then change the setting in glow and duplicate glow for fire effect.

Glow 2 will look like this.

Glow 3 will look like this.

Step 12- Go back to main fire layer and do duplicate 2 time then, the blending mode and size

In the last you can change the setting little bit like change the shape, color, & key frame setting according to you and according to your work.

There are many more special effects that you can create in this motion graphics software. So, do you want to master this software? Then go for Adobe After Effects course at Delhi's best video editing and post production training institute that is ADMEC Multimedia Institute.

This course covers everything you need to learn to create motion graphics and compositing work like an expert in After Effects.
