HTML stands for hypertext markup language, which is widely used for structuring and presenting content for the world wide web. The latest version of the HTML is called HTML5 i.e.,the fifth revision. The main aim behind of this language is to improve it for the latest multimedia while keeping it easily readable by humans and clearly understood by computers and all other devices (web browsers, parsers, etc).

HTML5 is a single markup language, which includes HTML and XHTML syntax. This language includes detailed processing models to encourage more inter-operable implementations; it extends, improves and rationalists the markup available for documents, and introduces markup and application programming interfaces (APIs) for complex web applications. Due to this reason this language is much more useful for the cross-platform mobile applications. Lots of feature of HTML5 is develop with the consideration of being able to run on small-screen devices such as smartphones and tablets.

There are some semantic feature in HTML5, which includes the new elements like:(video), (audio) and (canvas), as well as the integration of scalable vector graphics (SVG) content and MathML for mathematical formulas. The main concept of developing this feature is to handle multimedia and graphical content on the world wide web easily without using plugins and APIs. Another elements of this language is (section), (article), (header) and (nav), which is designed to enrich the semantic content of documents.
