How to Create a walk through in Max?

Autodesk 3ds Max is a well-known and leading 3d software that generates professional 3D modelling and rendering projects and has plentiful functionalities for providing quick animation and graphic rendition. It was initially known as 3d Studio in the year of 1988. Now we all know it as Autodesk 3ds Max since it was developed by Autodesk in 2009. Gradually it has become an indispensable tool that one need to comprehend for the enhancement of their career. For be a master of this application joining an advanced 3ds Max course in Delhi is highly recommended by experts.

In this blog we are going to cover the essential steps that one should know while generating walk through in this 3d modelling software. Once a project design is completed, animating it would prove quite effective for presenting it to customers.

There are basically five steps involved in creating a walk through in Max.

Steps to Create a Walk Through in 3ds Max

 1.  Creation of Path
The first step in this regard is to draw a path using Line Tool selected from the command panel. The Line should be drawn keeping in mind that has smooth curves from the starting to point to the end point. The line could be drawn from any viewport, but for a guided drawing, top view may be used. Start drawing the line from a point away from the object in focus. Line should be drawn around the object so that the camera can go around on its axis giving a comprehensive view of the object viewed. Line could be drawn all around the object till it completes a circle.
Now, from Perspective view, line could be adjusted or elevated so that object could be seen from appropriate height.

2.  Adding a Camera to the Path
Once the path is created, the next step is to attach a camera to the path that is already created. To attach a camera to the path you need to go for Animation Menu where you will have to choose Walk through Assistant. Walk through Assistant window has an option to create a camera. Click on Create a Camera and the camera will be automatically added to the view port. Double click on the added camera on walk Through Assistant window and close it. And we can see that a camera is already available on the view port.

3.  Enabling Camera View:
At this juncture, it is important to prepare the view for camera view. This could be done by going to Perspective and pressing ‘C’. Thus, camera will be enabled.

4.  Attaching a Camera to the Path:
Once the camera has been assigned and available on the view port, go to top view and keep the camera facing the line drawn. Place the camera at the start of the line at sufficient distance. And then go to Animation again and choose Constraint. From Constraint options, click on path constraint. This will open up a line from camera which should be attached the start of the line and the camera will be attached to the line path.

5. Adjusting Camera by Time configuration:
After assigning camera to the path, the camera will begin to move on the path on playing animation but may not be facing the object. Therefore, to have a proper focus on the object by Camera, Camera has to be properly adjusted by key framing it. Keep the camera at the start of the line and enable auto key in Animation key frame panel. Move the key frame till the camera reaches a point where camera could be adjusted. Use the Rotation tool to Change the angle of the camera to face the object in focus. Keep key framing till the camera completes the path. Then release the auto key. The animation of the object is complete.

6.  Rendering:
The Final Step is to do the rendering after a preview of the project to make sure the work and the animation is satisfactory. Rending could be done by going to Rendering Menu and setting up the Rendering. To add effectiveness to the work, it is also a good idea to add an environment to the project before rendering.

So, this is how we create a walkthrough in 3ds Max.
